Quick-Tip: Using Excel's AutoFill feature
If you have ever built a spreadsheet that involved numbers or days or months in ascending or descending order, you probably manually input each entry, one cell at a time.
Well, if you use the AutoFill feature that is built-in to Excel, you can quickly create these rows of labels.
To fill in a series of numbers, dates, or other items:
Select the first cell in the range you want to fill, and then enter the starting value for the series.
For numbers, you can duplicate the same number by simply dragging the 'Fill Handle' (small black square at the bottom right corner of the cell).
To increase the number one unit per cell, hold down the Ctrl button (you should see a small plus sign appear) then drag down using the fill handle.
For days or months, simply drag down the fill handle from the first cell to advance the day or month one cell at a time.
For more help, use the Help menu in Excel and type 'AutoFill'!
